June 2016.
University Hospital Lewisham, London.
Lewisham Hospital has undergone a major refurbishment including the replacement of high voltage electrical cabling and the installation of new fibre optic infrastructure to upgrade their existing data infrastructure.
On behalf of Landworth Electrics Ltd ST Fibre Solutions were contracted to install 8, 16, and 24 core distribution cable into patch panels located in various server and communication rooms throughout the hospital site. Multimode pigtails with SC connectors were spliced using INNO View 7 fusion splicers and the connections tested with an EXFO FLS & FPM 600 test kit supplied by Fibreplus. Whilst on site contractors accidentally cut through a 24 core mulimode fibre optic cable that serviced 31 CCTV security cameras located in the tunnels under the hospital . After tracing the fibres with a light source we executed an emergency repair by rerouting the cables to create some spare length and then fusion splicing the fibres together. |
